Amsterdam is considered tolerant, colorful and alternative: In the capital of the Netherlands, the motto is "live and let live". Individualists get their money's worth here, as do artists, adventurers, lovers and culture lovers. The city's canal system is architecturally unique: numerous waterways run along narrowly built, characteristic gabled houses that were built in the 17th century and catch the eye with their colorfully painted facades. In the museum district, the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Stedelijk Museum await art lovers. Amsterdam can even be conquered by bicycle - bike paths abound here.
