Atakule TV Tower

In the middle of the Çankaya district in the center of Ankara lies Atakule, a 125-meter-high tower that serves as both a communication and viewing platform. Ragıp Buluç designed the construction of the tower, which was finally completed in 1989 and celebrated by then President Turgut Özal as the city's new landmark.

Exclusive indulgence with a view

As one of the city's most important landmarks, Atakule towers majestically and attracts numerous tourists to bustling Ankara every year. Above the 125 meters is also a revolving restaurant called Sevilla, which offers traditional dishes as well as international delicacies. Moreover, the Sevilla completes an almost full 360-degree rotation within an hour, so you can enjoy not only the delicious food but also a fantastic panoramic view of the city. Furthermore, at the top of the Sevilla, there is another restaurant called Dome. Finally, under the terrace there is a café called UFO.

Promenade plus Entertainment

Beside the observation deck and the restaurant, the sight also impresses with an arcade, a Burger King restaurant, a Kentucky Fried Chicken location, a Pizza Hut as well as a shopping mall.

So, stroll around Atakule and enjoy the lively life of the Turkish capital in addition to a magnificent view of the Çankaya district. Since the Çankaya district is also on a hill, you can admire the tower from almost anywhere on a clear day. Since June 12, 2011, the Atakule Tower has also been equipped with a lighting system, making it a wonderful photo motif even at night.

Incidentally, the word ata in Turkish means ancestor or also father in Old Turkish, which is often used as a nickname (Ata) for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk - founder and first president of the Turkish Republic. The word kule, on the other hand, means tower in Turkish.
