Arizona is a state in the southwestern United States bordered by Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, California and Mexico. The capital and largest city is Phoenix. Historically, Arizona belonged to New Spain and later to Mexico, before it became part of the USA through the Mexican-American War and the Gadsden Purchase. Typical for Arizona are the desert landscapes, the hot summers and the Grand Canyon. Besides the Grand Canyon, the Petrified Forest National Park, Monument Valley and Saguaro National Park are among the attractions.
