Delaware is the second smallest state in the USA, bordering Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Characterized by rivers and forests, Delaware is economically known for the headquarters of large international corporations that benefit from favorable tax rates for holding companies. As "The First State," Delaware was the first of the Thirteen Colonies to ratify the United States Constitution in 1787. The capital is Dover, and the largest city is Wilmington. Tourists appreciate the scenic beaches, historic sites, and proximity to major cities such as Philadelphia and Washington.
