Kentucky is a state in the southeastern United States bordered by Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri and Illinois. The landscape of Kentucky is very diverse and characterized by rolling hills, rivers, dense forests and the Appalachian Mountains. Typical for Kentucky are horse breeding and horse racing, especially the famous Kentucky Derby, which takes place annually in Louisville and is considered one of the most prestigious horse races in the world. Kentucky is also known for the production of bourbon whiskey and bluegrass music, which originated in the region.
