Wisconsin is a state in the north of the USA. It is located in the Great Lakes region and borders Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. The capital of Wisconsin is Madison, the largest city is Milwaukee. Typical for Wisconsin are the numerous lakes and rivers as well as the rolling hills and forests that characterize the landscape. Wisconsin is also known as "America's Dairyland" because it is one of the largest producers of dairy products in the United States. Wisconsin attractions and places of interest include the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, known for its scenic sandy beaches and historic lighthouses, and the Wisconsin Dells, a popular vacation area with water and amusement parks. The cities of Milwaukee and Madison offer cultural attractions such as museums, galleries and festivals. Wisconsin is also a haven for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, skiing and boating, with the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and Door County Peninsula being particularly popular.
