Eiffel Tower

Built in 1889, the Eiffel Tower is over 300 meters high and is considered a masterpiece of steel construction. On the occasion of the world exhibition, a huge landmark was to be erected: Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nougier, the two engineers from Gustave Eiffel's office, planned the colossus. 7300 tons of steel, 1700 steps and 18,000 steel parts were used to create a masterpiece that still amazes today. From one of the three platforms at 57, 115 and 276 metres you can enjoy magnificent views over the entire city. Nowadays it is hard to believe that after the opening of the Eiffel Tower the building was called "useless and monstrous" by 300 intellectuals and artists.
