Fortaleza

Brazil is rich in beautiful sandy beaches. No wonder with a coastline of 7,400 kilometers along the Atlantic Ocean. The Praia de Jericoacoara in the port city of Fortaleza occupies a special position. Even if some visitors may be bothered by the high-rise backdrop of the beach promenade, the metropolis of millions offers carefree beach life on its doorstep and spoils its guests with numerous exclusive bars and restaurants. The Fortaleza fortress, built by the Dutch colonial rulers in the 17th century, gave the city its name. But Fortaleza, located in the far north-east of the country, also has a temple of culture: the Theatro Jose de Alencar.
