Guarulhos

The history of the city of Guarulhos goes back half a millennium. Nevertheless, in Brazil it is often only referred to as a "suburb of São Paulo". In fact, Guarulhos borders directly on its large neighbor to the south and west. However, the international airport of São Paulo is located in its municipal area. Guarulhos has a university and is the seat of a bishop. The city's name comes from the Tupi language of a tribe that once lived here, the Guaramomi.
