Holland Park

London has many famous parks that are described in every travel guide. If you want to relax in a green area during a city trip, the less known but not less beautiful Holland Park can be recommended.

Location and general information

Holland Park is situated to the west of central London in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, an area with many attractive Victorian buildings. The site covers 22 hectares and was built around the remains of an early 17th century manor house, first named "Cope Castle" and later "Holland House". This town palace in the Jacobin style was largely destroyed during the air raids in the 2nd World War. Around the ruins the various gardens were later laid out.

Attractions in Holland Park

The Holland Park consists among other things of a forest with native wild animals and also scores with several lawns, which invite you to relax and picnic.

A highlight of the park is the Kyoto Garden, which strictly adheres to traditional Japanese specifications and features the typical elements. These include, for example, a pond with a bridge and waterfall, several bonsais and a pool with koi carp. If you're looking for an oasis of tranquility, this is the place for you!

In the centre of the park is the Investic Opera House. This is an open-air stage where interesting and top-class performances are staged, which regularly attract large audiences.

The southern part of the park attracts Londoners and visitors looking for sporting activities. Children can play to their hearts' content in Holland Park's great adventure playground.
