Java is an island located relatively centrally in Indonesia. It is home to the capital Jakarta. In terms of landscape, Java, which belongs to the large Sunda Islands, is characterized mainly by some still active volcanoes and crater lakes, which were formed by volcanic eruptions. But also jungle and savannah landscapes can be found on the island, where more than half of the Indonesian population lives. This is also reflected in the cultural diversity that can be found on Java. In any case, the city of Yogyakarta should be visited during a stay on the island. It has the special status of a sultanate with a reigning sultan. The palace can be visited on guided tours.
