About six kilometers off the coast in the Gulf of Thailand is the rather small island of Ko Samed. The island owes its name to the samet or cajeput trees that grow here in abundance. But impressive nature is not all that makes the island. You will also find picturesque beaches, various water sports and a vibrant nightlife. Even locals from Bangkok like to spend a long weekend here, because the island is only about two hours away. A large part of the island belongs to the Khao Laem Ya-Mu Ko Samet National Park.
