The beaches of Kume are less crowded and even in high season offer the possibility to take a relaxed sunbath without crowds at one of the three dreamlike beaches. If you are looking for even more silence, you will find it on the sandbank Hatenohama. This 7-kilometer-long oasis of tranquility can only be reached by boat. Tours are offered as a day trip or for the duration of half a day. There is also much to discover culturally on the island: a detour to the ruins of Uegusuku Castle gives visitors a glimpse into the island's eventful history.
