Langesund

Your travel guide for Langesund
Langesund is a cozy coastal town in the province of Telemark in southern Norway, which today is best known for the ferry connection to Hirtshals in Denmark.

The town of Langesund

The E18 passes many coastal towns situated somewhat off the main road. Many of them were important for seafaring in the past and are now vacation idylls for summer tourists. From Stathelle, for example, a narrow road leads for 6 kilometers to a beautifully situated small fishing settlement with a long seafaring past. White houses nestle against the mountain - it is quiet. One enjoys a fantastic view of the sea and an uninhabited island.

Langesund is also known for its festivals and cultural events in the summer. Bob Dylan, a-ha and Elton John have performed here.

The fishing village lived for a long time from shipbuilding and timber export. Today, however, the economy is more dependent on industry and tourism. Around the middle of the 18th century the church was built in baroque style. There is a lot to discover during a walk around the old bunkers.
