Fjord Line discontinues ferry service to Sweden

Fjord Line has announced that it will cease ferry operations between Sandefjord in Norway and Strömstad in Sweden. This step is taken due to strategic considerations, as the route is not in line with the company's vision and long-term strategy.
The shipping company will focus on the sea routes between Norway and Denmark in order to develop further in the tourism sector and offer a first-class customer experience on board. Fjord Line will continue to play an important role in passenger and cargo traffic between Norway and the continent.

Since 2014, Fjord Line has operated the ferry service between Sandefjord and Strömstad with the MS Oslofjord.

Brian Thorsted Hansen, CEO of Fjord Line, says: "We are currently in dialogue with the trade unions and works councils and are starting consultations with the employees who will unfortunately be affected by this situation.

The shipping company is looking at various options to withdraw MS Oslofjord from service.

Operations on this route will cease on October 29, 2023, which will unfortunately have an impact on employees, customers and business partners.

"We would like to thank our dedicated and loyal employees for their fantastic efforts and creating great customer experiences. A big thank you also goes to all our customers who have chosen Fjord Line over the years," says Brian Thorsted Hansen.

Customers who have booked on MS Oslofjord after October 29, 2023 will get their money back.

The discontinuation of this route will not affect Fjord Line's other ferry services, as these are part of the company's long-term strategy.
