With the Railway Museum, the Horst Janssen Museum and the Museum of the Old Brickworks, three highlights are waiting for you. The painter Horst Janssen grew up in Oldenburg. His paintings are exhibited in the museum. The center of the city is the castle, which was built as early as the 11th century on the ruins of a former castle. Especially beautiful is the palace garden with its diverse flora, which was created at the beginning of the 19th century according to an English model and was designed by Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig.
