Orangery Park

Not far from the Europrats building in Strasbourg lies the largest and oldest park in the entire city, the Parc de l'Orangerie. It invites tired guests to take a little break in the greenery and is also popular with all residents of Strasbourg.

Runners, lovers or walkers can be found here at all times, young and old inhabitants of the city stroll along the winding paths. Many trees provide shade and conjure up clean air, large plane trees and beeches rustle in the wind and soothe mind and body. Large meadows invite you to have a picnic. The rose garden is a special highlight in the 26-hectare park. The beautifully tended flower beds line the paths and make a walk a colourful experience.

Attractions for children

In addition to the sprawling meadows and the many trees, which can sometimes be playground enough, there are of course two landscaped playgrounds in the Parc de l'Orangerie. Slides, swings and climbing equipment can be found here, the children can really let off steam and practice their dexterity. Benches line the large area where parents and companions can rest - and be ready with a snack. Not far from the playground there is a special attraction: a small ride invites little guests to a little round trip in cute little vintage cars.

A small but nice zoo

Another highlight for children in the Parc de l'Orangerie is without a doubt the small zoo. Here, there are macaque monkeys to marvel at, donkeys, parrots, peacocks and owls, a turtle and goats - the colourful mixture does not allow to get bored and one always discovers a new enclosure. On more than 15,000 square meters there is also a water area with ducks and flamingos, aviaries and a "chalet" with salamanders, frogs and bats.

Bowling centre in the middle of the park

Older children, teens and adults will find another fun attraction in the park. A bowling centre with 24 lanes offers the best conditions. It is located directly at the park entrance on Rue de Verdun, where there is also a car park. There is also a restaurant with a summer terrace from where guests can look out over the park's waterfront.

Culinary

Eric Westermann's Buerehiesel restaurant is a culinary highlight, not only of the park, but of all of Strasbourg. It also offers business menus and serves selected delicacies and specialities. Those with more sophisticated tastes are sure to find what they are looking for here. Far less posh, but still wonderful, is the ice cream parlour in the park. At Glaces Franchi, lovers of ice cream and sweets are served many varieties of freshly made ice cream. With a frozen cone, one can then comfortably sit down in the meadows of the park.
A walk through the park can be finished with a boat trip. On the big pond with the fountain in the middle, one can rent small boats and make a small round. And maybe you will spot one of the famous storks that have found a home here.
