Filicudi
Filicudi is the oldest of the Aeolian sister islands. It is located in the west of the group with its three volcanoes. Monte Fossa delle Felci, Lavadom Monte Montagnola and Torrione are inactive and can be visited. From Monte Fossa delle Felci you can see as far as Sicily. The island is largely uninhabited. Only about 100 people live here in the old port of Pecorini, in Valdichiesa and on the southern slope. The aroma of herbs, oleander and broom hangs in the air.
The special thing about Filicudi are its numerous grottos. According to legend, many different mythical creatures live here. In the midday heat of the Mediterranean sun, you may be able to catch a glimpse of them yourself.
The ferry port on the island of Filicudi offers connections to the other Italian islands of Stromboli, Salina, Sicily, Alicudi, Panarea, Vulcano and Lipari, as well as to the ferry port of Ginostra on the Italian mainland. A total of 11 routes are offered here several times a day by the shipping companies Siremar and Liberty Lines.
