Along the way you will have the opportunity to see small villages and taste the food of the locals. Apollonia is the capital of the island and offers besides small alleys also an intense nightlife. By the way, a visit to one of the numerous pottery workshops is also worthwhile - because this craft has a tradition here and you can learn a lot of interesting facts about it during a tour.
The ferry port on the island of Sifnos offers connections to the other Greek islands of Andros, Sikinos, Thira, Koufonissi, Paros, Tinos, Folegandros, Ios, Amorgos, Mykonos, Serifos, Milos, Kythnos, Kimolos, Syros and Naxos, as well as to the ferry port of Piraeus on the Greek mainland. A total of 17 routes are offered here several times a day by the shipping companies Hellenic Seaways, Aegean Sea Lines, SeaJets and Zante Ferries.
Syros
The name of the island originally means something like "rocky" - and that aptly describes what awaits you on Syros. In addition to the rugged natural formations, the island is home to the administrative center of the Cyclades. Accordingly, it is busy here all year round. Here you will especially meet Greeks from the mainland; international tourists are rather less to be found here. The cultural side is not neglected here either, and churches, a theater and a library are among the most important places on the island. If you are looking for beautiful beaches, you will find them on the southern and western side.
