Kythnos
The island with its capital of the same name is with 100 km² comparable in size to the North Frisian island of Sylt. You reach Kythnos as your vacation destination in the region of the Southern Aegean Sea. Together with the islands of Kea, Serifos and Sifnos, Kythnos forms the island chain of the Cyclades. On Kythnos you will find both rural seclusion and tourist activities. You can bathe and swim at five dozen beaches - or take a detour to the thermal and iron springs that run right through the island town of Loutra. In the village of Kanala in the south of the island, you should visit the Greek Orthodox pilgrimage church.
The ferry port on the island of Kythnos offers connections to the other Greek islands of Andros, Sikinos, Thira, Paros, Tinos, Folegandros, Ios, Kea, Sifnos, Serifos, Milos, Kimolos, Syros and Naxos, as well as to the ports of Piraeus and Lavrio on the Greek mainland.
