Kea
The Cyclades island of Kea is about 150 km² in size and has just under 3,000 inhabitants. Here you will find everything you could wish for a vacation in and with nature - mountainous expanses and deep gorges, steep slopes, plateaus and valleys, picturesque bays and long beaches. The capital of the island is Loulida. Sights on Kea include castle ruins from ancient times, several monasteries such as those of Aghios Symeon and Panagia Kastriani, and an archaeological museum. The most beautiful sandy and pebble beaches can be found in Gialiskari, Otzias, Vourkari, Koudouras, Lygia, Kampi, Xila, Spathi, Kalidonichi, Sykamia, Psathi, Orkos or in Karthaia.
The ferry port on the island of Kea offers connections to the other Greek islands of Andros, Sikinos, Paros, Tinos, Folegandros, Ios, Kythnos, Kimolos, Syros and Naxos, as well as to the ferry port of Lavrio on the Greek mainland. A total of 11 routes are offered here several times a day by the shipping companies Triton Ferries, Hellenic Seaways and SeaJets.
Thirasia
The island belongs to the Cyclades group. With a good nine km², Thirasia is only slightly larger than Baltrum, the smallest East Frisian island in the North Sea. The two harbor villages are Korfos and Riva. The main village on Thirasia is Manolas with several hundred inhabitants. Thirasia is not so much a destination for a longer vacation stay as for day tourists from Santorini, the 90 km² island directly opposite and much better known among holidaymakers. The almost untouched nature of Thireasia will really inspire you. Island destinations are the monastery Kimisi Theotokou in 200 m height at the southeast tip, the church Agios Charalambos or the abandoned village Kera. On Thirasia you can relax from your hectic everyday life.
