The Corsican ferry company was founded in Bastia in 1968 and has been developing its offer ever since. In the beginning, only crossings from the Italian mainland to Corsica and back were on offer. Later, connections between Corsica and the French mainland were added. Ferry services to Sardinia are also offered under the Sardinia Ferries brand. Since 1996, fast ferries have been increasingly used, thanks to which crossing times have been significantly reduced and more passengers have been carried. Characteristic for the ferries of Corsica Ferries is the yellow hull, which also visually distinguishes them from the ships of other lines.

Currently, thirteen ferries are in operation and offer passengers a lot of comfort on board, in addition to regular crossing times. The largest part of the fleet - eight ships - belongs to the "Megas" category. With space for up to 2,200 passengers and up to 700 vehicles, as well as a wide range of entertainment on board, the "Megas" combine speed, comfort and a large capacity. In addition to recliners and cozy cabins, there are onboard restaurants, bars, a swimming pool, a children's playroom and a boutique. On the "Mega Smeralda", which entered service in 2008, there is an on-board spa.The slightly smaller ferries of the category "Cruise Ferries" are equally comfortable and complete the crossings regularly. Here there is a capacity of up to 1700 passengers and 550 vehicles. The four ships in this category also have cabins, restaurants and playrooms for children.

For the connections to Elba, the more compact fast ferry "Corsica Express Three" is used. It allows to reach Elba in record time. The crossing Piombino-Portoferraio takes only thirty minutes, from Bastia it reaches Elba in ninety minutes.
