The opening of the shipping company took place in 1941 in the Canary capital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The founder, Antonio Armas Curbelo, specialized the company at the beginning in the pure transport of goods and due to the good business, especially with the transport of salt, the shipping company expanded and renewed its fleet several times within a short time. Over the decades, the company has operated more than 50 different ships, making it one of the largest shipping companies in the Canary Islands.

Since then, the shipping company has operated mainly on routes between the islands of the region. However, other ports around Spain and North Africa are also served. The most important destinations include Tenerife, Granada, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura. In the past, there were even connections to Madeira, Portugal, Morocco and the coasts of the Western Sahara.

In 1995, there was a drastic change in the company's business policy, when it started transporting passengers. Since then, the total of nine ships have been calling at all the important ports in the region, often several times a day.

On board the ultra-modern ferries, no wish of the guests remains unfulfilled. From a visit to the restaurant to an extensive shopping tour to relaxing at the outdoor pool, there is something for everyone. Children's entertainment is also catered for with a spacious play area, as the company is particularly keen to appeal to families. Last but not least, business travelers are not left out. With free Wi-Fi on board and their own quiet areas, they can relax and catch up on work while on the road or simply enjoy the peace and quiet and the view.
