The Indonesian island of Sumatra has an extraordinary biodiversity in flora and fauna. The national parks Gunung Leuser, Kerinci-Seblat and Barisan Selatan are therefore UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A special highlight of the island are the wild orangutans, which can often be found there in the wild. The endangered Sumatran rhinoceros and Sumatran tiger can also be seen in the national park, but this requires a lot of luck. Another natural wonder on the island is Lake Toba, which is the largest volcanic crater lake in the world with a length of 87 km.
