Lilla Torg

The small market square in the old town of Malmö

Framed by colourful half-timbered houses from the 16th to 18th centuries, Lilla Torg, the small market square, is one of the city's most popular and lively meeting places. Especially in summer, life pulsates here when the numerous restaurants, cafes and bars have placed their tables, chairs and umbrellas outside.

Built in Danish times in 1591, the historic market district's old facades and natural stone pavement fascinate tourists at any time of year and offer a picturesque ambience. While street cafés invite you to relax in summer, cosy lighting provides a warming atmosphere in winter. The small market is a popular meeting place and represents the special charm of the old and new combining city of Malmö.

Close to Lilla Torg is Stortorg, the centre of the old town, and the Form Design Center, a museum about design, architecture and design in Scandinavia.
