Centre George Pompidou

The Centre George Pompidou is one of the most renowned museums in Paris. Not far from Les Halles, where artists and writers once lived, an ultra-modern glass and steel building was erected here from 1972 to 1977, which met with indignation from the population in its early days.

The Center for Modern Painting was intended to set new urban planning impulses. Even today, with its partly colorful pipes, bridges and conduits, it sets a very striking accent in the urban landscape. More than 6,000 artists are presented at the Centre George Pompidou in 76,000 works. There is also a Kandinski library. It is considered one of the most important libraries specialized in art. On 7,500 square meters of space, the exhibition organizers show works and temporary exhibitions by Giacometti, Miró, Matisse, Picasso, Andy Warhol and Joseph Beuys, among others. Not only the good lighting is inspiring, but also the outdoor terraces and views over the city center.
