Liechtenstein Palace

The private art collection of the Princely House of Liechtenstein
The Liechtenstein Museum is a spacious complex with adjoining historic garden grounds. Divided into the City Palace and the Garden Palace, the museum houses an extensive princely collection on display. Highlights include a state carriage, the only one of its kind to have been preserved, which provides important historical testimony.

The Liechtenstein Museum

As early as the 16th century, the then Prince Hartmann of Liechtenstein began collecting valuable art objects and acquired, as one of the first objects in the collection, the portrait of Count Ladislaus von Haag. Over the centuries, the collection was expanded by several impressive works until, finally, in 1938, the von Liechtenstein family moved its seat to Vaduz and thus the art collection of the family estate was also transferred there. It was only years later that parts of the collection could be brought back to the Garden Palace.

The City Palace

The Stadtpalais impresses with its central downtown location. The baroque building impresses with its magnificent interior and exterior architecture. Objects from the private collection of the Prince of Liechtenstein can be viewed in the City Palace. These include works from the Biedermeier and Classicist periods.

The Garden Palace

Adjacent to the Garden Palace is a large historic park. Guided tours of the princely collections are also possible here. Here you can find objects from the early Renaissance to the High Baroque. Many rooms are still preserved from the princely period and bring this lifestyle back to life.
