Recife

Your travel guide for Recife
Recife is a city of contrasts and is known as the "Venice of Brazil". The urban area extends over three islands, which are connected by bridges and where history was written. Especially in Antigo, the atmospheric old town, numerous historic buildings from the region's colonial era line the old alleyways and streets. The airship "Graf Zeppelin" once landed in Recife after its legendary crossing of the South Atlantic. The "Zeppelin Tower" in the city is still a reminder of this today. Many houses in Recife have been restored in recent decades. These include the Kahan Zur Israel synagogue, the Malakoff Tower and the historic fort from the time of the Dutch occupation. The harbor district is bursting with joie de vivre, as street parties are held here three evenings a week.
