Amrum
Amrum is part of North Friesland and is especially known for its natural beauty. This includes a picturesque mixture of heath, small forests, meadows, a seemingly endless beach and an offshore sandbank with seals. The main town of the island community, which has 2279 inhabitants, bears the melodious name of Nebel. Special places offer the sea marks, including the Amrum lighthouse - the largest on the German North Sea coast. If you are interested in island history, you will find not only beautiful listed houses, but also historical evidence from the Viking Age. A special feature of the island are the so-called talking gravestones, which were elaborately engraved with quotes and Bible verses.
The ferry port on the island of Amrum offers connections to the island of Föhr as well as to the ferry port of Dagebüll on the German mainland. The routes Amrum - Föhr and Amrum - Dagebüll are offered here several times a day by the shipping company Adler-Schiffe.
