Ponza is one of the two inhabited islands of the Pontine Islands, a small group of volcanic islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The municipality of Ponza also includes the uninhabited neighboring islands of La Botte, Gavi, Palmarola and Zannone. The island's harbor is lined with pastel-colored cottages arranged like a crescent-shaped amphitheater.
