Turning Torso

The new landmark of Malmö is the Turning Torso since 2006. The 190 meter high skyscraper has 54 floors and is the highest residential building in Sweden.

Situated in the Västra Hamnen district and winding around its longitudinal axis, the tower was designed by the Spanish-Swiss star architect Santiago Calatrava, whose futuristic design was inspired by a sculpture that Calatrava himself created and christened the "Twisting Torso".

The unusual building has received various awards and, like the Öresund Bridge, is an unmistakable landmark in Malmö. Even from afar, the Turning Torso cannot be overlooked. From various locations in Malmö, visitors to the city always get new, attractive views of the city's architectural highlight.

Even higher than the Turning Torso is the Öresund Bridge, Sweden's highest structure, at 203.6 metres.
