Rosenheim

Travel Guide & Travel Information
With a current population of almost 64,000, the third largest city in Upper Bavaria is located in the Inn Valley and is the administrative center of the district named after it. Already at the time of the Roman rule over the area about 2,000 years ago location of an important military station at the crossroads of two trade routes, a castle Rosenheim was first mentioned in a document in 1234. Early on, the initially still small town profited from the trade in goods between Austria and Hungary, and from 1810 to 1958 also from the local saltworks. Due to its proximity to the Chiemgau, Rosenheim is a popular vacation region. The Inn Museum explains the Inn as a transport route and waterway. The annual Starkbierfest (strong beer festival) in March and Rosenheim's Herbstfest (autumn festival) on the Loretowiese (Loreto meadow) in August/September are very popular.
