Gothenburg Pass

The City Pass for Gothenburg - is it worth it?
The Gothenburg Pass is a City Pass for the Swedish city of Gothenburg. It gives you free entry to more than 30 attractions and museums in Gothenburg for a period of 1 to 5 days. The Gothenburg Pass also includes the popular Paddan boat tour, a tour of the beautiful Gothenburg archipelago and unlimited trips on the practical hop-on hop-off buses and boats. You can find all the information about the Gothenburg Pass on this page.

Validity and activation

You decide how many days your Gothenburg Pass is valid for when you buy it. The options are 1, 2, 3 and 5 days. Important: one day does not mean 24 hours. If you only activate a pass in the afternoon, it will still expire at the end of the day.

The Gothenburg Pass works with a scan and barcode system. The card is activated the first time you visit an attraction and is then valid for 1, 2, 3 or 5 days - depending on which option you choose.

Is the Gothenburg Pass worth it?

As with all city passes, this question can only be answered with regard to the individual organization of the city trip. In Gothenburg, however, the time of year actually plays the most important role:

Example 1: Arrival from April - September

The popular Hop-On/Hop-Off buses, which take you to most of the attractions, only run in the summer months. Using the buses costs 230 SEK per day, so you have already recouped a large part of the cost of the Gothenburg Pass. If you also do the Paddan boat tour, visit a museum or the Liseberg amusement park, you can really save money with the Gothenburg Pass.

Example 2nd journey from October - March

In the dark months of the winter half-year, it really depends on what you want to do in Gothenburg. The Gothenburg Pass usually only becomes interesting here if you want to visit relatively many of the expensive attractions, such as the Universeum (costs 275 SEK regularly).

Conclusion - only makes sense in the summer months

  • Thanks to the many free boat tours and the practical hop-on hop-off buses, you can save a lot of money with the Gothenburg Pass in the summer months. Even the relatively expensive pass for one day should be worthwhile for many people.
  • In the winter months, the buses do not run and many other tours do not take place either. Here, the pass is usually only worthwhile if you want to visit a lot of museums in a relatively short time.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

  • Do children also need their own Gothenburg Pass?
Yes, children between the ages of 0 and 15 need their own Gothenburg Pass (at a reduced rate). Children aged 16 and over pay the full price.
  • Can I visit an attraction more than once?
No. The Gothenburg Pass is only valid once for each attraction. The only exceptions are the hop-on hop-off buses and boats, which can be used as often as you like.
