The Gothenburg Archipelago

The rugged beauty of the Swedish west coast

If you can spend a little more time in Gothenburg, don't miss the archipelago at the mouth of the Göta Älv. There you can hike, swim, picnic and much more amidst beautiful nature.

The northern archipelago is accessible by car (free car ferries are also available); the southern archipelago is largely car-free and accessible by boat or tram. The archipelago is a great setting for cycling and hiking.

Small villages in the archipelago as well as lonely bays can be explored. Of course, there are also numerous pubs and restaurants to cater for your physical well-being. If you want to stay overnight, there is also accommodation in the archipelago around Gothenburg. And last but not least, the boats that offer a crab dinner on board during the trip to the archipelago are worthwhile.
